Later AcmeDeveloped a form of Silica Gel used as a slip agent in polymers, Again an import substitute. Acme also developed technology for theManufacture of High Purity Lipid chemicals (of 99 + % purity) . During the course of development of these products Acme built up aVery well equipped R& D lab and gained considerable expertise inResearch and development of manufacturing technologies. Sensing the winds of change Acme enlarged the focus from importSubstitution to developing products with good export potential. ASearch for products with good export potential led Acme to CastorOil derivatives. India is the largest producer and also exporter ofCastor Oil in the world. This gives a price / logistical advantage toManufacturers of products based on Castor Oil. Acme standardisedTechnology for the Cracking of Castor Oil. Acme started exportingUndecylenic Acid and selling Heptaldehyde locally. Today it has aManufacturing set-up of 250 tons of undecylenic Acid per annum.
