1 IntroductionP.T. Holland for Water markets and assembles affordable water purifiers for low-income households under the registered brand name Nazava. Our mission is to provide clean drinking water to everybody everywhere. Nazava is achieves this by assembling and marketing the very best and most affordable water filters. Our water filters help in fighting diarrhoea and, when used as an alternative to boiling water they are an effective tool against global warming. There are no other players in Indonesia that offer household water purifiers in our price range, varying from 7 to 29 euro. Nazava water filters are sold through resellers in nine provinces on three of the four main islands of the archipelago. We also sell our water filters directly to customers through our (web) shop and to NGOs. We have successfully delivered water filters to the World Bank in Pakistan, the International Organisation for Migration, Help Germany, the American Peace Corps and World Vision.The purifiers enable households to obtain safe drinking water. Water from the Nazava purifier is six to nine times more economic then boiling or buying water. This document describes the technology that we use and provides an overview of the products that we offer.2 Four reasons to buy a Nazava Water Purifiers2.1 Reason 1: Safe drinking waterWater from Nazava water purifiers is 100 % safe for human consumption. Compared to boiling the quality of filtered water is better because dust and sand and clay are filtered out and harmful chemical content is reduced. Boiling water, especially with wood, is a lot more work. 2.4 Reason 4: Better TasteTaste from Nazava water filters is considered better than boiled water because impurities are removed. 3 Filtration technologyThe Nazava water purifiers are equipped with the Basic Water Needs (BWN) Tulip filter candle. The candles are cylindrical and have a diameter of 6 centimetres and are 12 cm tall. The filters are made of ceramic with pores of 0.4 micron.The water filter removes micro-organisms: bacteria, cysts, parasites, fungi, sand, clay and other particles greater than 0.4 micron. The water that is produced is safe to drink according to WHO standards. The filter is effective in making yellowish or whitish water clear. The ceramic is mixed with colloidal silver that kills bacteria and fungi and helps to keep the stored water clean. The filter candle is filled with granular activated carbon from coconut shell. Activated carbon reduces smell, odour and harmful chemicals.The filter candle can filter 7000 litres (translates to 1-2 years) of water before it needs to be changed The filter candle is easy to clean.
