The AdvoCare concept grew out of the trying experiences Mr. RonPocklington and his family encountered along with the problems andchallenges that they faced in over 20 years of providing homecareand trying to give a respectable quality of life to his son,Andrew. At age 4, young Andrew Pocklington was diagnosed withDuchenne Muscular Dystrophy. The grief and shock of this terriblenews eventually led the Pocklington family to resolve that theywould do everything possible to give their son a full and rewardinglife for whatever time he had.The many difficulties they encountered were daunting. Problemsranged from basic physical things like lack of wheelchair access inmany buildings to a sometimes seemingly intransigent andover-extended healthcare system that simply not geared to the needsof the disabled. The family devised their own way to not only cope, but to overcome these problems. Mr. Pocklington spoke out on behalfof his son and others in similar situations and began making moreand more people in positions of responsibility aware that somethings had to change.
