AMC-SCHOU'shistorystarted in the early part of last century. Aarhus Motor Company wasestablished in 1925 as a Ford car dealer in the centre ofAarhus. The need for specialised machines for thereconditioning of combustion engines arose and in 1938 productionof the first machines was started. After successful export sales, aseparate company, Aarhus Machine Company (AMC) was established in1951.AMC continued with the design, production and sales of crankshaftgrinding machines, cylinder block boring and milling machines andcylindrical grinding machines etc. In 1980 Aarhus Motor Companyclosed down due to a recession in the car business but AMCcontinued as a separate company.In 1998, AMC-SCHOU AS moved to new, purpose-built,premises covering 9,000 m2 in Galten, 20 km west of Aarhus.Â
