Company Introduction
Our collection, like many others, started many years ago with the acquisition of a few of these unique plants. Since then, additional plants were sourced which added to the variety and size of the collection. We added feature plants prior to completing the balance of the collection. Our collection has reached a stage where we can start propagation, resulting in the formation of Cycads Unlimited.In addition to our own plants, seedlings and smaller collections were acquired to supplement our stock. It soon became apparent that the quality of plants acquired varied substantially. In many instances plants were transplanted too often and they were not established when we bought them, resulting in the plants not surviving. It was also evident that pollination has resulted in genetics not remaining pure. Although there is an interest in variants by some, a lot of collectors still want to complete their collections with "original" plants. More recently, Cycads Unlimited has acquired a number of collections, the genetics of which are less questionable. These include the breeding stock, seedlings and nursery stock of various reputable collectors and sellers.The majority of the plants so acquired now represent our breeding stock. Our total breeding stock, including the rarer species, is in excess of a thousand plants! Cycads Unlimited will endeavour to make established plants available with an accurate description of their origin if possible.
