Far Out Sport and Leather is the leading manufacturer of ostrich leather goods in Africa. HISTORYSome 5 minutes drve from the centre of Oudshoorn, nestling in the fertile Elephant River Valley, lies the Production Farm, Brakenskraal, which was suryeyed and proclaimed in 1843. Farming started at Brakenskraal in 1892, and to this day, i remains its global position as one of the 10 largest, independent producers of Ostrich Products, from the breeding, hatching and rearing of chicks to adulthood, and Market Ready for slaughter-but it does not end here. We are also the largest independent exporter of crust and tanned ostrich skins in the world. Some other of our activities at Brakenskraal include the production of Ostrich Leather Products for the local and export market i. E wallets, purses, handbags, belts, solid wood furniture covered with Ostrich Leather. The most treasured community award was the Ben Gurio 25th year commemorative medallion award from the Ben Gurion University. Other recipients of this award include President Mandela, The Arch-Bishop of Canterbury, Premier Michael Gorbechev, Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin, Premier Boris Yeltsin and President Francois Mitterand. TODAYWe export our 1st Grade ostrich skins all over the world. We have many different colors, grades and sizes available. In addition to our leather skins that we also sell ostrich feathers, eggs and many more products. We can provide custom ostrich leather goods and custom colored skins / leather should you wish. We also produce our own products for the export market, these include, amongst others: ostrich leather jackets, tables, chairs, gloves, hats, mobile phone covers, motorbike seat covers, mens and ladies wallets and purses, mens and ladies shoes, handbags. . . . We also export and supply ostrich eggs, feathers and other by-products. MARKETSWe currently export worldwide. Some of our mjor markets include the United States, United Kingdom, Italy, Germany, Taiwan and Australia. OUR FACILITIES AND INFRASTRUCTUREWe had our technologically advanced tanning facilities and processing plant. The activities of Bakenskraal also include the production of Ostrich Leather Products for the export market. Furthermore Bakenskraal is also renowned for its Holstein Stud. Some 100 cows are milked every day and a number of dairy products including Cheeses are produced. Bakenskraal boasts exceptional infrastructure, sturdy fences from uncountable camps for the animals and a wide array of internal roads make it possible to visit all corners of the property by vehicle. Transport is further enhanced by its own railway siding and ease of access to the national road network. We are well are very committed to community development and have had up to 200 community self help projects running at the same time.
