Company Introduction
Our journey in the sugar business begun in 1945 when Mr. Chuan Chinthammit along with two co-founding families Tokaranyaset and Rojanasthien jointly founded a sugar factory called Kwang Soon Lee Co., Ltd. located on Rama 1 Road, Bangkok. The name “Kwang Soon Lee” is derived from the middle names of the stores owned by the three founders at the time. In 1952 the factory was moved from its original site to Pechtkasem Road, Thonburi and was renamed Thonburi Sugar Factory Co., Ltd. [Plant 1- Kwang Soon Lee]. As the sugar business flourished and a new sugar factory, Ang Vien Industry Co., Ltd., was set up in Amphur Baan Bung, Chonburi. It was the first sugar factory that adopted modern technology to produce granulated sugar directly from fresh sugarcane juice. The company continued to expand production capacity by building many more sugar factories. Consequently, by 1973, the company managed to own and operate a total of 6 sugar factories across Thailand as follows: • Thonburi Sugar Factory Co., Ltd. [Plant 1 – Kwang Soon Lee] was built in 1952 at later relocated onto the same premises as Thonburi Sugar Factory [Plant 3]. • Ang Vien Industry Co., Ltd. was built in 1960 at Baan Bung, Chonburi. • Thonburi Sugar Factory Co., Ltd. [Plant 2] was built in 1965 at Panasnikom, Chonburi and later renamed as New Kwang Soon Lee Sugar Factory, Co., Ltd. • Thonburi Sugar Factory Co., Ltd.
