Company Introduction
The Company: Los Charitos SRL is afamily-run business set up in 2009. Our main objective is tomanufacture and participate in the different links of value chains:from production to end users. Our strategy for theproduction of goods is based on i) our own production, ii)association with other manufacturers, and iii) the purchase ofgoods to third-parties. Own production: Los Charitos rents selected fields in production areas which are considered to be more appropriate for a certain product, hires the required labor activities and provides the agrochemicals that are to be used. The technical and operative management is 100% in charge of the company.  Association with other manufacturers: Manufacturing in association is a normal activity in Argentina. Los Charitos works in association with serious and responsible companies established in the production areas with the purpose of manufacturing goods with safety. Thus, both the production risk and the business are shared.  Purchase to third-parties: The purchase of goods to third-parties is classified into two: Purchase under a supply contract with manufacturing companies, according to which Los Charitos provides the necessary seeds for the sowing and the other company undertakes to give 100% of the harvest to Los Charitos. Purchase of natural goods directly from the field or of goods processed in a plant to be subsequently sold and shipped.  Human resources: Wehave the appropriate technical staff and manager for our scale ofproduction, and we provide counselling about production tothird-parties so that they can mitigate human risks in theproduction, processing and export of goods. Research anddevelopment for new alternatives: Los Charitos participates in aproject driven by the National University of Crdoba involving thedevelopment of specific studies to prolong the level ofconservation of acidity in sesame oil and of different studiesregarding the use of solids obtained from oilextraction. Our Products: LosCharitos has developed a strategy for production diversificationand is sowing sesame, chia seeds, quinoa, amaranth, popcorn,mustard seeds, coriander, and chickpeas.The area where LosCharitos is settled is excellent for the development of theseproducts and is in line with the objective of achieving asustainable production. Our production: Thearea:The fields that are tobe planted are selected according to the ideal characteristics andneeds for the crop so as to obtain the highest possible level ofharvest security with a high yield potential.The provinces of Salta,Jujuy and Formosa were selected as production areas due to theiragro-ecological characteristics (temperature, humidity, rainfalland soil characteristics) which allow for the development of thiscrop. The production strategy is based on the characteristics ofthe crop.All the fields destinedto production are previously assessed by a qualified technician whois responsible for the area and who analyzes the characteristics ofeach lot and defines the production potential.Hundred percent of thefields are non-irrigated and production is rain-fed. For thisreason, our goal is to diversify production areas. Diversificationof production areas: By diversifying areas, we areproviding stability to the system and each area in particular hasdifferent potentialities and comparative advantages in terms oflogistics. The result of each crop in each area is determined bythe handling (human factor) and by environmentalconditions. The seed: Ourseed is selected and comes from our own harvest, which allows us togenerate a process of continuous improvement in the quality of ourproduct.Everyyear different lots are selected and they receive a specialtreatment so as to obtain a product of better quality and adaptedto the production area. Labor activities: Thecompanies contracted to carry out labor activities (sowing andfumigation) are companies which have provided this service to LosCharitos for many years, and therefore, the training in themanagement and handling of these products is constant andspecialized. The logistics: Themovement and availability of the seed, agrochemicals and machinesduring the sowing season is crucial for the good development ofcrops, since the sowing and application dates should always berespected. Technical management: Thecompany has agronomists in charge of each production area whocontrol the planting, the plagues, the weed and the harvest in eachproduction lot.Theycontrol 100% of our own production and they give advice onmanufacturing in association with other companies and onthird-party production, thus providing permanent help andmonitoring the planted crops. Entrance: The plant hosts the total of goods coming from our own production, the production of our partners, and the production bought to third-parties. Insidethe plant natural goods are received in big bags and they arestored in our warehouses according to their incoming quality. Thus,greater efficiency is achieved in the processing for the regulationand development of the plant.Theincoming goods are identified by origin, transport used, lot weightand physical analysis at entrance. Processing cycle: The processing cycle has different classification sections or tasks within the plant with the objective of achieving the highest possible purity. Pre-cleaning: There are two in-line vibrating machines and a wind cyclone, which, through a circular movement system of shakers (3 mm upper, 0.8 mm lower), select the impurities that are greater and lower in size with respect to the grain. Thus, sticks, sheaths, leaves, clods, soil, seeds of other varieties are discarded. Sorting system: The Sorting system works in the same way as the Pre-cleaning system, but for the fact that in the former the shakers are specially selected to attract more impurities; in the case of the sesame they are of 2 mm (upper) and 1.10 mm (lower). Densimetric or vibrating: The densimetric table separator is a machine that is used to sort particles by density rather than by size. The product to be handled is placed in the upper part of the machine and it falls over an inclined tray. The tray, driven by two electric vibrators, is equipped with a perforated sheet which allows for air flow coming from its lower part. Two fans â¬a supply fan and a ventilation fan⬠complete the installation, thus allowing for the product to be separated. Packaging: The product that is selected for having commercial qualities is brought to the hopper where the packaging is carried out. The magnetic trap for metal extraction and the automatic-cut off scale are found under the packaging hopper.  Storage: Once the goods are processed and a finished lot is obtained, this lot is destined to a warehouse. Lots can be either stored in bags for the end user or, if they have no certain destination, they are placed in big bags until the loading time, when they are bagged following the specifications provided by each client.  New logistics: Goodtransportation: Naturalgoods:The goods harvested in the field are placed in big bags, which areloaded onto trucks which transport between 28 and 30 tonnes ofgoods to the processing plant for their furtherprocessing. Finishedgoods:The finished goods are transported by truck in bags, according tothe client's specifications, to the warehouses that the companyhas in Crdoba and Arrecifes or rather directly to the destinationport where the goods are loaded into containers to be subsequentlyexported. Warehouses:Thewarehouses of Los Charitos are in General Deheza (Crdoba),Arrecifes (Buenos Aires) and in Del Viso (Buenos Aires). The latterwarehouse is exclusively used for goods with commercial destinationto be sold in the domestic market and not to beexported.   Insurance:All the goods belonging to Los Charitos are transported andprocessed under an insurance policy subscribed by thecompany.  Our marketing: Domesticmarket:We have a Department of Commercefor the supply of our products to the domestic market. We work inassociation with and we are suppliers of national leading companieswhich place our products in the supermarket shelves in ourcountry. Internationalmarket: Our Department of InternationalMarket Commerce participates in the different international foodfairs so as to promote and sell our products in differentdestinations. Â
