A native of Baltimore, Dr. Shermak graduated Phi Beta Kappa andMagna cum Laude from Franklin and Marshall College. She earned hermedical degree from the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, and wasthe first to finish a combined residency program in general andplastic surgery at The Johns Hopkins Hospital. She is a Fellow ofthe American College of Surgeons, Board Certified in PlasticSurgery and an active member in the American Society of PlasticSurgery (ASPS) and the American Society of Aesthetic PlasticSurgery (ASAPS). Dr. Shermak represents the American Board ofPlastic Surgery, examining candidates for board certification.Aftercompleting her plastic surgery training, Dr. Shermak went on topursue further specialized training in aesthetic, breast, and bodycontouring surgery in Nashville with Dr. G. Patrick Maxwell and Dr.Jack Fisher. There she learned the latest techniques in bodycontouring surgery, including liposuction and body lifts; breastsurgery, including primary and complex cosmetic and reconstructiveprocedures; and facial rejuvenation surgery, including laserresurfacing, facial peels, endoscopic surgery, and facelifts.
