    Experts believe that some form of rugs were producedas far back as 300 B.C. In 1949, famous Pazyryk Rug was discovered at a Scythian burial site in the Altai region in Southern Siberia. This rug, torn in parts is a fine example of Pile Rug, both in design and craftsmanship, it isbelieved to have been made around 500 B.C. In the ancient civilizations, carpets had been gifted between the kings, emperors and rich people. These were the part of dowry in marriages of princesses. During the Mughal regime in Indo-Pak, carpets had been considered as a worthy craftsmanship and Mughals did a lot of support to those families of craftsmen who were engaged with this art.
