Take orders from customers and arrange pickupof freight and cargo for delivery to loading platform. Prepare andexamine bills of lading to determine shipping charges andtariffs.Receive and process incoming orders for materials,merchandise, classified ads, or services such as repairs,installations, or rental of facilities. Generally receives ordersvia mail, phone, fax, or other electronic means. Duties includeinforming customers of receipt, prices, shipping dates, and delays;preparing contracts; and handling complaints.Compile informationand records to draw up purchase orders for procurement of materialsand services.Compose letters or electronic correspondence in replyto requests for merchandise, damage claims, credit and otherinformation, delinquent accounts, incorrect billings, orunsatisfactory services. Duties may include gathering data toformulate reply and preparing correspondence. Knowledge ofprinciples and processes for providing customer and personalservices. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting qualitystandards for services, and evaluation of customersatisfaction.Analyze and manage risk management issues byidentifying, measuring, and making decisions on operational orenterprise risks for an organization.
