A novel technology was developed in which vegetables crops were grown in non-drained containers filled with specific substrates so as to save about 80% of water and fertilizers nornally required by that crop.In the new technology water & fertilizers are automatically applied to the bottom of the container. With appropriate substrates, salts are forced by capillary to move upward and accumilate in the apper layer.
