Founded at the Life Science Research Center, Gyeongsang National University, BioHub is a research-centric company that specializes in bio-engineering. BioHub, a venture business, has its own research center to conduct research and development in the field of bio-engineering and the manufacturing of products for the treatment of common ailments such as diabetes and high blood pressure. Designated as a government-sponsored project research institute, BioHub also participates in a bioengineering technology development project and a technology innovation scheme. Research projects currently underway by BioHub include: developing a new functional food and medicine by finding physiology activation substances; the development of genetic resources of oceanic life and microorganisms and its application in the development of high quality fish sticks, vegetables and functional feed additives; the development of medicine-transmitting systems using the new polysaccharide derived from oceanic plants and also the creation of a functional food using mushroom polysaccharide and commercialization of useful enzymes using a bioengineering method. BioHub will continue to conduct its research and development in the quest to become a global business specializing in bio-engineering.
