The decision to establish Novokemerovo Chemical Complex was takenby the Council of People's Commissars of the USSR in April 1945.The construction of production plants, warehouses, service roads,and railway lines took almost 11 years. Tomsk PolytechnicInstitute, Kazan Chemical-Technological Institute, KemerovoTraining School, and Kemerovo Technical Vocational School # 3provided the factory with their graduates - engineering employeesand equipment operators. On the 5th of November 1956 the first tonsof product were manufactured at Plant 638. April 1945 - The Councilof People's Commissars of the USSR made the decision to startconstruction of the Novokemerovo Chemical Complex. November 5, 1956- The plant produced the first tons of the chemicals - amines.1958-1969 - Weak nitric acid, ammonium nitrate, bulk urea, sulfuricacid, urotropin, formalin and catalysts production plants werestarted up. The production of ammonia and methanol was launched onthe basis of coke gasification. Ammonium carbonates, the first tonsof ion-exchange resin -17-8, sulfonamide C and pureresins were produced. 1962 - The plant produced the first tons ofcaprolactam, one of its major commodities.
